Early SA Dagger by H. Herder

A Model 1933 Sturmabteilung Dienstdolch by H. Herder of Solingen. The blade on this one has seen better days. The acid etched “Alles für Deutschland” motto and “H. Herder Solingen” maker mark are both crisp and nicely executed! There is pitting and stain that progressively gets better as you move towards the guard. The fit remains nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point! This blade rates Exc/Exc+. The steel based, brown anodized scabbard has some oxidizing, yet it remains completely dent free. The solid nickel scabbard fittings look excellent matching the crossguards in color and patina! The ball continues to retain its original round shape and all four scabbard screws remain tightly intact. The reverse of the lower crossguard is marked “B” (Berlin). These crossguards are mismatched. The brown tiger-stripe hardwood grip looks excellent! It only shows minor pressure marks throughout remaining chip and crack-free. The solid nickel-silver eagle retains beautiful details and has a perfect fit with some verdigris. The SA roundel has a perfect fit and retains 99%+ of its enamel.

Rating:    Exc/Exc+
