A Model 1933 SS Dagger (Schutzstaffel Dienstdolch) by “RZM 285/38 SS”. Most don’t know this and finding this maker with this configuration (solid nickel guards, a steel pommel nut and a painted scabbard with plated fittings) is considered "Textbook". The blade on this one looks good. The acid etched “Meine Ehre Heißt Treue” motto and “RZM 285/38 SS” SS contract number are both nicely executed. The tip comes to a perfect point and the fit sits perfectly up against the hilt. Traces of crossgrain remains visible but the blade does suffer scuffs and evidence of cleaning. The blade rates an Exc+. The steel based black painted scabbard body looks great matching the wear of the hilt. It has small sctaches and scuffs throughout. The steel based plated nickel-silver scabbard fittings look great. All the plating remains but again small scuffs and evidence of wear. The ball is perfect. All four screws remain intact. The solid nickel-silver crossguards look excellent! The grip is black died hardwood and I'm going to say there has been some restoration to the grip to the top right corner and the lower right corner. A very good job was done. There are some hairlines to the reverse. The solid nickel-silver eagle is nicely detailed and has a perfect fit. The SS roundel retains 99% of its enamel and has a perfect fit! A very rare and unique piece.
