A Transitional Model 1933 Hitlerjugend Fahrtenmesser by Anton Wingen Jr. of Solingen RZM M7/51 1938. The blade on this one looks great. The acid etched “Blut und Ehre!” motto and “RZM M7/51 1938” maker mark are both crisp and beautifully executed. There is some crossgraining visible in the light. It has a perfect tip and fit. The blade rates Exc++. It shows age grey, spotting and surface scratches throughout. An original brown pebbled leather buffer pad is intact. IMO this is from a dress bayonet and was added. The steel based black enamel painted scabbard looks good. It retains 65% paint coverage and remains dent free. It shows oxidization throughout the scabbard body, rivets and snap. The folded over blackened leather strap retains all of its rivets and the snap continues to work well! It shows only minor age crazing throughout. The hilt is constructed out of a steel base that has been nickel-silver plated. The plating remains in excellent condition, being 96%+ intact. The two black checkered bakelite grip plates are in great condition and secured with two steel grip rivets. To the center obverse of the grip is a HJ diamond with near perfect enamel. A great mottoed example!
