Ok this is one for the advanced collector. Here's an rare early Transitional SMF all in early nickel silver! Most guys know little about these but they do make an excellent study. They are rare being only produced for a few short months before production what switched to the pure 1st model luft. Whitmann speaks to this dagger specifically in chapter 3 of his Luftwaffe reference. The plated blade on this one rates an NM. It remains bright with a solid fit, a perfect tip, and a beautifully executed maker mark! The blade has some light runner marks. The leather buffer pad remains intact. The cardboard based scabbard is in good condition. The scabbard body has some small pressure marks but it still retains 100% leather coverage. The scabbard has the usual bumps from where the runners have been pushing against the cardboard for the past 75 years. Look at the staples that secure the scabbard fittings. Textbook and exactly what one expects on these things. The solid chain has 14 lower and 9 upper ringlets. The scabbard fittings have remants of lacquer. They have a few small marks from normal period wear. The hilt fittings are all nickel silver with separately inserted swastikas that remain in excellent condition with most the silver remaining "between the legs". The grip is triple wrapped with perfect brass wire. There is light normal wear to the grip with a wee bit of leather loss but no abuse.
