A Model 1933 - Schutzstaffel Dienstdolch by RZM 7/95, (J. A. Schmidt & Sohn, Solingen),RZM Contract Code “RZM 1222/39 SS 39”. Rare! The blade on this one is very nice! The acid etched “Meine Ehre Heißt Treue” motto and SS contract number are both dark, crisp and beautifully executed. The tip comes to a perfect point and the fit is nice and tight! The blade rates a solid Ex++. This has been cleaned and there is slight evidence of finger prints and a bit of age towards the tip as well as common surface scratches/runner marks throughout. The steel based black painted undented enamel scabbard body on this one looks good. It has wee scratches from normal period use. It retains 97%+ paint coverage. The steel based, nickel-silver plated scabbard fittings look great! The ball is perfectly round. All four screws remain intact. The scabbard to hilt fit is perfect and closes with a snap! The aluminum based nickel-silver plated crossguards look good but the lower is cracked to the obverse. The grip to crossguard fits are good. The black died hardwood grip has cracks and flakes. The aluminium eagle is nicely detailed and has a near perfect fit. The SS roundel retains 99%+ of its enamel and also has a perfect fit! A rare example , actually I only ever ones one other.
