A rare and desired maker on this one! The blade on this one looks good. The acid etched "Meine Ehre Heisst Treue" motto and crisp "C. Bertram Reinh. Sohn Solingen" maker mark are both beautifully executed and provide a wonderful contrast to the bright blade! The fit is perfect and some crossgrain continues to remain visible. The blade rates Exc/Exc+. It shows the common age greying/spotting and surface scratches throughout. The scabbard body is steel based and black anodized. It shows minor oxidization spotting throughout yet retains a good finish. Looks to me like something was spilled on it at some point, like a lacquer or such. It might clean but I do not mess with this stuff. The solid nickel scabbard fittings look good. It appears as through someone has replaced one screw at some. The ball retains its original round shape and all four scabbard screws remain intact. The scabbard fit is perfect and closes with a snap! The solid nickel crossguards look excellent, the underside being engraved with the guys SS Serial # 78420. The reverse of the lower fitting is district stamped "I" (Munich). The black died hardwood grip is in excellent condition and way better than most SS daggers I've seen! It has no chips or cracks, just wee hits, marks and scratches from normal period wear. The grip to crossguard fits are perfect. The solid nickel eagle is wonderfully detailed and has a near perfect fit. The SS roundel retains 95% of its enamel and also has a perfect fit! The whole piece has likely received a light cleaning at some point. A solid SS dagger, by a rarer maker, that is fit for your collection!
