A Model 1933 Schutzstaffel Dienstdolch by Ernst Pack & Sohne of Solingen. Evidence suggests E.P. & S. was the earliest manufacturer of SS daggers. The blade on this one looks wonderful! The acid etched “Meine Ehre Heißt Treue” motto and “E.P. & S. Solingen” maker mark are both dark, crisp and beautifully executed! They truly provide a wonderful contrast to the bright blade! The full crossgrain is stunning as you shine it in the light! The blade is nicely seated up against the hilt and the and the tip comes to a perfect point. The blade rates NM. It shows runner marks, surface scratches and the slightest traces of age spotting. The steel based black anodized scabbard looks excellent! It continues to remain completely dent free! There is wear towards the top of the scabbard where a vertical hanger would have been. All four scabbard screws remain intact. The nickel-silver crossguards look excellent as well. Minor bumps but that’s it. The reverse of the lower crossguard is stamp “I” (Munich). The black died hardwood grip is in great condition. There are pressure marks throughout but no cracks or chips. The solid nickel-silver eagle is wonderfully detailed and has a perfect fit. The SS roundel retains 99%+ of its enamel and has a perfect fit! A wonderful piece I am pleased to own!
