A Rare & Personalized Model 1933 Schutzstaffel Dienstdolch by Artur Schüttelhöfer & Co. of Solingen. Asso is perhaps the rarest manufacturer of SS daggers. The blade on this one looks wonderful! The acid etched “Meine Ehre Heißt Treue” motto and “A. Schüttelhöfer & Co Solingen-Wald ASSO” maker mark are both dark and beautifully executed! They truly provide a wonderful contrast to the bright blade! The unique fine crossgrain looks great as you shine it in the light. The blade is nicely seated up against the hilt and the tip comes to a perfect point. The blade rates NM. It shows runner marks, surface scratches and the slightest traces of age spotting. The steel based black painted (which is correct for this maker) scabbard looks excellent! It continues to remain completely dent free. There is some age spidering yet 99% of the painted finish remains intact. The steel based plated scabbard fittings look excellent. The ball continues to remain perfectly round. All four scabbard screws remain intact. The nickel-silver cossguards look excellent as well. The crossguard to scabbard fit is perfect and closes with a snap. The black died hardwood grip is in wonderful shape! There are pressure marks throughout but no cracks or chips. The solid nickel-silver eagle is wonderfully detailed and has a perfect fit. The SS roundel retains 99%+ of its enamel and has a perfect fit! This one comes with a wonderful vertical hanger and belt/equipment loop. For a maker mark collector this is gold!
