Rare Early NSKK Dagger by E. Gierling

Here we have an Early Model 1933 Sturmabteilung Dienstdolch by E Gierling Grah of Solingen. A real treat when these rare ones come around! This one rates 10 out of 10 for rarity on McSaars SA rarity rating list! The blade on this one is in nice condition! The acid etched "Alles für Deutschland" motto and maker mark are both crisp and beautifully executed! The crossgrain is easily visible. The fit remains nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point! This blade rates Exc+/Exc++. The only distraction is some stain next to the crossguard. The steel based, brown anodized scabbard looks excellent. It's been period repainted NSKK black but 90% has worn off. It shows no oxidization or dents. A beautiful brown finish remains. The solid nickel scabbard fittings look excellent matching the crossguards in color and patina! The ball remains perfectly round all four scabbard screws remain intact, though one of the lowers looks buggered. The scabbard / crossguard fit is perfect and closes with a snap! The reverse of the lower crossguard is marked "P" (Pommern). The light brown hardwood grip looks excellent! It only shows the common pressure marks throughout. No cracks, chips or flakes! The solid nickel eagle retains beautiful details and has a perfect fit. The SA roundel has a perfect fit and retains 99%+ of its enamel. A rare one missing from most collections!
