A Model 1933 Sturmabteilung Dienstdolch by Wilhelm Kober of Suhl. Well here's a solid example direct from The Vet's family that's never been cleaned, never opened! The blade on this one looks good. The crossgrain is stunning running the blades full length, the fit is nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point. The dark acid etched "Alles fur Deutschland" motto and 'Wilhelm Kober & Co Suhl" maker mark are both beautifully executed, nice and dark! The blade rates Exc+/Exc++. It has some witness staining from where the runners have rested for the past 80 years.throughout and it appears to have been cleaned. The brown anodized scabbard looks great with much of its original lacquer still intact! It has just a bit of surface wear with some oxidizing to the leading edge. There is a wee "pinprick" hit4" south of the obverse upper scabbard fitting. The solid nickel scabbard fittings are in great shape just minor wear. The ball has a small hit and all four screws remaining intact! The scabbard / crossguard fit is perfect and closes with a snap! The solid nickel crossguards are in near perfect condition and match the scabbard fittings in color and wear. The reverse of the lower crossguard is Gau stamped "Th" (Thuringen). The grip / crossguard fits are near perfect! The blonde oak hardwood grip has a lacquered finish and looks awesome! There are fnormal pressure marks but no chips, cracks or splits! The solid nickel eagle is perfect, retains beautiful details and has a perfect fit. The SA roundel also has a perfect fit and retains 99% of its enamel. Overall this piece is looks great and will look great in your collection!
