An etched M1937 Fliegerdolch. What a great item these etched blades are always desired and were extra cost options for well heeled Officers in the period. These were all made by Voos, whether marked or unmarked. It is believed that the unmarked examples were sold through distributors and uniform shops. Blade in good shape displaying the stunning "Voos" style etch with a Luftwaffe eagle framed by branches to the obverse. The lines are crisp and clean as you would expect them to be. This one conforms to the textbook pattern we see in Witty's reference. This has some plating loss to the very tip belong the etch. This is common on Voos etched blade as I have seen it often and now see it a sign of authenticity. A couple dot of age here and there. Nice taper to a slender point, just the way you like to see them. Leather buffer pad is intact. The fittings are all nicely matching. Outstanding detail to the eagle and feathers! Orange grip has nice springy wire wrap. No chips or cracks. The scabbard is straight and true. No dents anywhere. All the fitting display a matching airplane gray finish. Worn but honest portepee is included.
