Hilt is fine, nickel-plated example. Pommel cap exhibits no signs of improper turning. The “D” guard ends in quillon decorated with drilled divots on both sides. Lower ferrule is burnished and decorated with six standing oak leaves that have obviously received hand enhancements to the veins, and the mold lines are concealed by hand-engraved acorns. The underside of the hilt is proofed with the SS-Kulturzeichen stamp, which also appears on the scabbard throat. Ebony grip is in perfect condition, tightly wrapped with nickel wire. In the center is flush mounted burnished aluminum Police insignia; this bird retains fine detailing exhibiting minor wear finish on high points. Scabbard is as straight as an arrow retaining at least 95% original paint. Lower mount is the nickel-plated type retained by screws on each side and retains most of the original burnishing in the decorative lines. Upper mount is in the Wotan’s Knot configuration retaining background burnishing. Blade is a fine, matte finish example that measures 99 cm long. It is in excellent condition, stamped on the reverse with the “35-41” style Eickhorn Squirrel trademark. The original off white/tan leather blade buffer is in place.
