Early example of initial production. Pommel is incredible. Both rims are completely crisp, with finely stamped oak leaves on the upper surface. un wheels appear to have all the original gilding and 100% of the silvering intact, indicating this sword was rarely worn. Silver is patinated, adding to the dramatic look of the sun wheels. The same look can be seen on the crossguard sun wheels. Guard "wings" have very fine feathering and a nice downward taper. Grip is constructed of carved wood covered in blue Moroccan leather. Leather grain is 100% intact and exhibits only a couple of minor traces of wear. Grip is tightly wrapped with two sets of spring copper (or brass) wire. Scabbard shell is straight throughout. Original leather is in great condition, with only a couple of minor traces of wear. Scabbard mounts are also prefect, with a patination that matches the hilt. Attached to the two rings of the upper mount is the original crescent hanger. Hanger is in excellent condition and has a closed nickel box clip. Blade is of quality nickel plating in mint condition. Stamped into the reverse ricasso is the Seated King trademark of the SMF firm. There is a waffenamt above the king in the form of a stickbird with a "5" in his belly. Original leather blade buffer is in place. If you are looking for atop-quality early example, this is the piece that will satisfy you. It has highest quality construction and is perfectly preserved. Overall Length ca. 92cm
