A Flak-Kampfabzeichen der Luftwaffe Mitgliednadel. The stickpin lapel variation would be privately purchased for everyday wear. The Luftwaffe Flak Badge was awarded to those who had participated in 3 air defense actions (with a registered kill) or 5 air defense actions (regardless of a kill) or to the battery commander if half of their troops had been awarded the badge. It is constructed out of a die struck zinc base that has been silver washed and chemically blackened. The obverse depicts an anti-aircraft gun that is surrounded by a laurel leaf wreath and is below/behind a Luftwaffe eagle, clutching a swastika in one of its talons. The full back reverse of the badge has a soldered on knurled nickel-silver stickpin. The face measures a ¼ inch by 3/8 of an inch. Likely manufactured by Steinhauer & Lück of Lüdenscheid. A great piece!
