Voos Etched Blade & Bone Grip - 2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger

A prized example for a well-heeled officer. A 1937 2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger (Fliegerdolch) by Emil Voos of Solingen. The etched Emil Voos pattern blade on this one is gorgeous! The plated and frosted etch is crisp, correctly displaying the Luftwaffe eagle flanked by laurel leaves and an intricate vein/leaf motif. The details and edges are crisp as would be expected. The encircled snake and stump “Emil Voos Solingen” maker mark is beautifully executed. A nice mirror like finish to the plating. The blade on this one rates Exc++/NM. The blue pebbled leather buffer pad continues to remain intact. The scabbard is steel based and airplane gray plated. It remains completely dent free. It depicts nice detail throughout with the burnished random pebbling, oak leaves and acorns. The reverse single throat retaining screw remains intact. The aluminum-alloy based burnished eagle crossguard has nice detail to the eagle’s head, feathers, wings and top side embossed oak leaves and acorns. The alloy pommel looks excellent with the centered mobile swastika encircled by oak leaves and acorns. The pommels stil have some gilt remaining to the Swas's. The grip is bone, which would have been an extra cost upgrade, just as the blade was. It features pleasing striations and age toning throughout. It is wrapped in springy wire wrap. The scabbard (bands), crossguard and pommel all match with age patina. Most certainly this piece would have been for a well heeled officer. The nicest Voos I have owned.
