A M1938 - 2nd Model Kriegsmarine Dolch für Offiziere by Horster. This example has a nice fouled anchor etch, which has been beautifully executed. The blade is some age and stain. The stamped double oval Horster maker mark. The blade rates a solid Exc+. The buffer pad is lost to time. The button works well. The hammered scabbard looks good! It has even wear throughout with evidence of use but it continues to remain dent free, which is hard to come by with brass being such a soft metal! The brass has verdigris around the bands. Both throat retaining screws remain unturned and intact. The crossguard and pommel area nicely detailed and remain in great condition. The wood based celluloid covered grip remains in great condition with no chips or cracks. The wire wrap was missing when I got this and I replaced it. A nice piece with the upgraded scabbard.
