Police NCO Degen by ALCOSO

A great looking sword purchased from the Vet's family. The 31 inch blade on this one has some minor age but smooth edges and no damage. It has a nice matte finish, with a solid fit and perfect tip! The stamped ALCOSO maker mark is the 1st example I've seen in a NCO. The blade rates Exc++. The thick black leather buffer pad remains. The steel based, black enamel painted scabbard looks good with some spidering, scratches and wear, yet it remains completely dent-free and continues to hold 85%+ paint coverage! The upper scabbard fitting is plated and heavily oxidized and patinaed. It shows nice details with a burnished interweaving design and textured backgrounds. It remains tightly secured with two screws. The steel based plated hilt and d-guard also remain in good condition with some plating loss and surface oxidizing. I have not cleaned this, it is covered with patina and would look much better with some love. I leave this stuff as is. I would rate the hilt plating at 92%. The chip and crack-free hardwood black grip looks great. The zinc police eagle is tightly secured with some wear. The cast ferrule wonderfully displays detailed oak leaves and acorns all hand worked. A solid piece you will be happy with!
