Here we have a rarer, 9 out of 10 on the McSaar, model 1933 SA dagger (Sturmabteilung Dienstdolch) by Gustav.L. Nachf of Solingen. The blade on this one has been cleaned hard. I'm thinking with a wire brush or such and harder to the motto side. The acid etched “Alles fur Deutschland” motto is lightened and manufacturer’s mark is nicely executed! The fit is nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point. The blade rates VG. It shows remnants of pitting and surface scratches throughout. The steel based brown repainted scabbard looks good, there is a bit of an orange peel look to it. It has a nice brown finish with a bit of wear and spidering. It remains completely dent free! The solid nickel silver scabbard fittings look excellent! The ball is perfectly round and all four screws remain intact. The scabbard / crossguard fit is perfect and closes with a snap! The crossguards are aluminum, which is unusual. Who knows the story on that? The reverse of the lower crossguard is correctly Gau stamped “P” (Pommern). The brown hardwood grip looks excellent! Minor pressure marks but no cracks chips or flakes! The solid nickel eagle is beautifully detailed and has a perfect fit. The SA roundel also has a perfect fit and retains 99%+ of its enamel.
