Early SS EM Belt Buckle by O&C

Please note this item is no longer available and you were redirected to our Archives.

A beautiful early SS EM Belt Buckle by Overhoff & Cie., Lüdenscheid! It is constructed out of a die struck nickel-silver base that has been silver washed. The obverse depicts an SS eagle with its tongue sticking out and outstretched wings, clutching a centrally placed wreath static swastika in its talons. The eagle is above the SS motto: "Meine Ehre heißt Treue!" which is in front of a rough background that is surrounded by two twisted ropes in a circle. All of this lies on a smooth rectangular background. The reverse is clearly maker marked: "O&C" (Overhoff & Cie., Lüdenscheid) and "ges. gesch.". It also shows a brass catch and steel prongs. The retaining pin has been replaced at some point with a nail, In the period? Who knows. It has great patina. It measures approximately 2 ½ inches wide by 1 7/8 inches tall. A highly desired piece!
