Rare early model 1933 NSKK Dagger (Nationalsozialistisches Kraftfahrkorps Dienstdolch) by Ernst Hugo Rasspe of Solingen. This one rates 10 out of 10 for rarity on McSaar's SA rarity rating! The blade has been cleaned hard leaving it a bit shiny. There is some darkening towards to tip and minor pitting. The acid etched “Alles für Deutschland” motto and maker mark both are somewhat lightened but still look good. The fit remains nice and tight and the tip comes to a sharp point. This blade rates a Exc. The steel based black period repainted scabbard has no dents. The paint job is heavy period lacquer and poorly done, these guys were rebvels not Picasso! The nickel scabbard fittings look good. The ball is perfect. One srew is a replacement. The scabbard / crossguard fit is good and closes with a snap! The reverse of the lower crossguard is marked “Th” (Thuringen). The dark brown hardwood grip has age and flaking. One wee flake has been glued back in at the top obverse right hand corner. There are no cracks. The solid nickel eagle retains beautiful details and has a perfect fit. The SA roundel has a perfect fit and retains 95%+ of its enamel.
