A very early Model 1933 Hitlerjugend Fahrtenmesser by Hugo Köller of Solingen. The blade on this one looks ok. The acid etched “Blut und Ehre!” motto, the “Hugo Köller Solingen” maker mark and “Ges. Geschützt” patent mark are all nicely executed! The fit is nice and tight and the tip comes to a sharp point. The blade rates an Exc. It has been cleaned, with some traces of pitting, age grey and spotting throughout. The buffer pad is lost to time, as is typical with these early examples. The scabbard is steel based and black enamel painted. The body remains dent free and 60% of the painted finish remains intact. The black scabbard leather hanger is mostly gone. The steel based nickel-silver plated hilt looks good. Typical age wear. The black bakelite checkered grip plates are in excellent condition and are tightly secured to the hilt with two solid nickel-silver rivets. The HJ diamond retains 90%+ of its enamel. It has been re-glued back in. A very early piece. This one came out of an estate sale.
