A Wehrmacht Bajonett für K98 by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen 1938. The K98 Bayonet was designed for the German Wehrmacht standard service Karabiner 98 kurz (7.92x57mm Mauser cartridge) bolt-action rifle - 1935. The single edged, single fullered, blued blade on this one look great! The blued panels continue to have a nice and dark finish. The fit is perfect. It is maker marked and dated “41 cof” to the reverse, and “9310 q” (serial/distribution number) to the obverse. The blade rates a solid Exc++. It shows the commonly seen surface scratches from the runners (mostly towards the tip). The steel based, black anodized scabbard looks good though shows wear and loss of bluing. It is marked matching the blade perfectly. The single side screw is lost. The scabbard sits securely up against the hilt. The hilt looks great! The brown bakelite grip plates are in great condition! They show the common wear marks but no chips, cracks or splits! The button continues to work well. This piece is profusely inspection stamped as one would expect. This one comes with a nice tropical web frog that is unmarked.
