A Wehrmacht Bajonett für K98 by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen 1937. The K98 Bayonet was designed for the German Wehrmacht standard service Karabiner 98 kurz (7.92x57mm Mauser cartridge) bolt-action rifle - 1935. The single edged, single fullered, blued blade on this one has wear and most of the blue is gone. The fit is perfect. It is maker marked and dated “Carl Eickhorn” to the reverse, and “7360 j” (serial/distribution number) to e obverse and “37” to the spine. The blade rates a solid Exc+. It shows the commonly seen surface scratches from the runners (worse towards the tip). The steel based, black anodized scabbard shows matching wear and loss of bluing. It is marked matching the blade perfectly. The single side screw is lost to time. There are a couple bumps. The scabbard sits securely up against the hilt. The brown bakelite grip plates are in great condition! They show wear but no chips, cracks or splits! The button continues to work well. most of the factory bluing is lost to time. This piece is profusely inspection stamped as one would expect. This one comes with a nice frog that is dated, (illegible) and maker marked.
