A Wehrmacht Bajonett für K98 by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen 1940. The K98 Bayonet was designed for the German Wehrmacht standard service Karabiner 98 kurz (7.92x57mm Mauser cartridge) bolt-action rifle - 1935. The single edged, single fullered, blued blade on this one look good. The blued panels continue to retail some of their finish. The fit is perfect. It is maker marked and dated “S/172" (Carl Eickhorn) to the reverse, and “9103 h" to the obverse, the spine is marked, 40. The blade rates a solid Exc. It shows the commonly seen surface scratches from the runners (mostly towards the tip). The steel based, black anodized scabbard shows wear and some bumps to the lower obverse. It is marked matching the blade perfectly. The single side screw remains intact. The scabbard sits securely up against the hilt. The brown bakelite grip plates show wear with wee hits and dents. The button continues to work well. most of the factory bluing is lost to time. This piece is profusely inspection stamped as one would expect. This one comes with a frog that is unmarked.
