A Wehrmacht Bajonett für K98 by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen 1937. The K98 Bayonet was designed for the German Wehrmacht standard service Karabiner 98 kurz (7.92x57mm Mauser cartridge) bolt-action rifle - 1935. The single edged, single fullered, blued blade on this one look good. The blued panels continue to retain good finish. The fit is perfect. It is maker marked and dated “S/172" (Carl Eickhorn) to the reverse, and “9331 d" to the obverse, the spine is marked 37. The blade rates a solid NM. It shows the commonly seen surface scratches from the runners (mostly towards the tip) and witness marks where the runners have rested. The steel based, black anodized scabbard has great blued finish. It is marked matching the blade perfectly. The single side screw remains intact. The scabbard sits securely up against the hilt. The brown wood grip plates show wear with wee hits and dents. The button continues to work well. The factory bluing is nice. This one comes with a unmarked frog.
