This is a 1916 French 8 x 24 trench binoculars, made in Puteaux by the Société de Recherches et de Perfectionnements Industriels (Society of Industrial Research and Development or SRPI). MG means Ministère de la Guerre (Ministry of War). Nicely marked on the right side with the magnification information: 8 X 24 DECIGRADES The left side has the manufacturer markings and serial number: M.G. S.R.P.I. No. 12152 Both sides of the Binoculars have clear optics, however both eye cups are missing, and the diopter adjustments and the eye width adjustment are frozen. A very nice set to display!
