An Imperial Extraseitengewehr by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen. Now it's hard to tell from the pics, but this is about 20% larger than your typical dress bayonet. The fullered 257mm plated blade on this one has lots of age, stain and has been shortened a few mm. The stamped back-to-back squirrel “CE” maker mark is nicely executed. The fit is nice and tight. The buffer pad is lost to time. The steel based painted scabbard looks good with 80% of it's original paint remaining. It is dent-free. The original throat retaining screw and frog lug remain intact. The ball remains perfectly round. The steel based, nickel-silver plated hilt has about 60% of it's finish remaining. The black checkered bakelite grip plates are soiled but undamaged. They are tightly secured to the hilt with three steel rivets. The push button continues to work well!
