A model 1934 RAD EM Subordinate Hewer (Reichsarbeitsdiens Hauer für Mannschaften und Unterführer) by Carl Julius Krebs of Solingen. Direct from the Vet's family, you hardly ever find a RAD is this kind of condition! The matte finished blade on this one is in excellent condition! The crisp, acid etched "Arbeit adelt" motto and "RADJ Ges. Gesch. Carl Jul Krebs Solingen" maker mark are both beautifully executed! The fit is perfect, and so is the tip! It rates a solid Mint-. There are a couple dots of age that's it! The steel based, black enamel painted scabbard is in beautiful condition! The scabbard body remains completely dent free and retains 99.9%+ paint coverage! The black burnished, steel based and nickel plated fittings provide wonderful detail, throughout the RAD logo's and decorative top patterns! No dents! No not even to the bottom of the lower fittings that is nearly always taken a hit. All four screws remain intact. The scabbard / crossguard fit is perfect and closes with a snap! The steel based, nickel plated hilt is also in beautiful condition! The hilt and fittings match in color and patina. The stag horn grip plates have wonderfully aged, providing wonderful contrasting beige/brown colors that only time can create! There are no cracks of chips and they remain tightly secured by two aluminum screw/spanner. Included is a letter from the Ca. family providing some provenance. An excellent looking piece that is the right one for your collection!
