Model 1937 Land Customs Officials Dagger

A Model 1937 - Reichsfinanzverwaltung Dolch für Landzoll-Beamte by E. & F. Hörster of Solingen. The bright blade on this one is good condition with nice crossgrain and a beautifully executed acid etched Horster maker mark! The blade rates Exc++. The tip has slightly been repointed and there is minor age. The undented scabbard has detailed bands with the correct chased line approximately 5mm in from the front scabbard fitting edges. The fittings are all secured with unturned headless screws. The lower has a hit to the lower reverse. The throat is integral to the upper fitting as we see on 95% of these. The leather on the scabbard has excellent coverage and remains in beautiful condition! There are a few very small marks you usually find on these from honest period wear. You rarely find original leather in great shape. This dagger also employs the textbook aluminum fittings with upswept hand enhanced Customs eagle wings. The unique Customs pommel with acanthus leaves is matching in tone and patina. The leathered grip is in good shape with again beauty leather wear and correctly wire wrapped with twisted aluminum wire. The unique Customs ferule again has the correct leaf pattern. Finally finishing this is a tag and bag. These were purchased by the previous owner as original. Ok, so I know these can be controversial as to when they were made. I'll just call them post-war and a great way to complete a nice display.
