A Model 1938 - Deutsches Rotes Kreuz (German Red Cross) Hewer. The blade on this one looks good. It's been cleaned at some point and the crossgrain is easily visible and the sharp teeth to the saw back are in perfect condition. The fit is perfect. The blade rates an Exc++. It shows a few stains. The black leather buffer pad continues to remain intact. The steel based, black enamel repainted scabbard looks great! It continues to retain 99%+ paint coverage and it remains completely dent free! The nickel plated scabbard fittings look excellent, matching the hilt perfectly. Both screws continue to remain intact, the lower fitting is the "slip-on" variety favored by Lunescholoss manufactured examples. The alloy based nickel-silver plated hilt looks excellent! The Third Reich red cross medallion on the crossguard has fine vaulting and detail! The correct bakelite checkered/smooth grip plates are in perfect condition! They are tightly secured by two steel screw/spanner assemblies. This one also comes with a fine black leather frog. Overall it’s a solid example.
