German Imperial era Kampfmesser by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen. The 148mm blade on this one is fairly typical. Sharpened and cleaned. The stamped dual squirrel “Carl Eickhorn Solingen” marker mark is nicely executed. The fit is nice and tight and the tip comes to a sharp point. The scabbard is steel based and black painted. It shows typical spidering and paint loss yet continues to hold 90% coverage. It remains completely dent free. The brown leather hanger is in great condition. It is likely a period replacement as the screws/nuts are atypical. The snap continues to work well. The hilt is cast iron and plated. It has the typical “eagle head” and faux push button resembling a bayonet. The black bakelite grip plates are in perfect condition and are tightly secured with two steel rivets. A great example!
