Ehrenzeichen Kreissieger im Reichsberufswettkampf 1939 by Hermann Aurich of Dresden. The National Trade Competition of the German Youth was organized as a joint sponsorship (HJ, DAF and NSDStB) as part of the Gleichschaltung of German society. The competition was divided into vocational and academic branches. It included manual, technical and artistic endeavors, testing professional, theoretical and ideological knowledge. The badges were awarded winners in three stages: bronze (Kreis/district), silver (Gau/state) and gold (Reich/National). It is constructed out of a die struck multi-piece bronze base that has been bronze washed and contains multicolored enamel work all behind a protective lacquer coating. The obverse depicts a German national eagle with outstretched wings clutching a cogwheel, that has a Hitler Youth diamond emblem above it, in its talons. This is above a smooth pearl white field that reads “Kreissieger 1939” and is surrounded by a laurel leaf and berry wreath. The concave full back reverse shows an embossed maker mark which reads: “H. Aurich Dresden A.16”. It also has a soldered on round wire catch, soldered on block hinge and flat wire pin. All of which remain in well working condition. It measures 1 15/16 inches wide and tall. A nice aged example. Collect all of the levels and dates!
