A Transitional Model 1933 Hitlerjugend Fahrtenmesser by C. D. Schaaff of Solingen RZM M7/56. Based on construction this piece can be dated to 1936. It is textbook construction and has the correct Progressive Die Flaw. The ricassoed, mottoed blade on this one looks excellent. The acid etched “Blut und Ehere!” motto and stamped “C. D. Schaaff Solingen RZM M7/56” maker/RZM mark are all beautifully executed. The crossgrain is beautiful as well and is easily visible as you shine it in the light. The fit continues to remain nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point. The blade rates an Exc++/NM. It shows some age grey/spotting along with surface scratches throughout. The original black sealed leather buffer remains intact. The steel based black enamel painted scabbard is in excellent condition. It remains dent free and holds 99% paint coverage. Just the odd scratch. It has two cloth covered runners. The black leather hanger is in excellent condition. The snap continues to work well. The iron based nickel-silver plated hilt retains 98%+ of its plating. The grip plates are damage-free black checkered presstof. Both steel rivets remain tightly secured. The small HJ diamond has 95%+ of its enamel. An excellent example purchased from the veteran’s family!
