Please note this item is no longer available and you were redirected to our Archives.

A post WWII Federal Republic of Germany; “1957” German Cross in Silver (Deutsches Kreuz in Silber) in Issue Case. Issued to German veterans who were awarded these during the Third Reich era. Production of these awards ceased in 1986. The award is constructed out of a die struck, five piece construction, made of a; light cupal base, white aluminum core, silvered nickel-silver wreath, and contains red enamel work. The obverse features a 1957 version 1st Class War Merit Cross with Swords, on a smooth white/silver aluminum base, which is then surrounded by a silvered laurel leaf and ribbon wreath that is marked “1941” to the bottom and lies on a red enamel base. This is all then on a two piece backend and silvered eight point sunburst pattern backing. The full back reverse correctly shows; four rivets, a soldered on flat wire catch, soldered on sheet metal hinge, and a coke bottle pin. It measures 2 1/2 inches wide and tall. This piece comes with the appropriate issue case. It measures 4 1/8 inches wide and deep and 1 1/8 inches tall. A great example!

  • NOTE this was discussed on a reputable forum and determined to be fake. ie, not S&L 1957 issue but later. A good place holder.
