A post WWII Federal Republic of Germany; “1957” Oak Leaves and Swords (Eichenlaub mit Schwertern) in Issue Case. Issued to German veterans who were awarded these during the Third Reich era. Production of these awards ceased in 1986. The oak leaves are constructed out of a die struck plated 800 silver content. The obverse features a three-piece pebbled oak leaf cluster above two crossed broad swords. The fullback reverse features an “800” silver content mark and has a centrally soldered on round wire ribbon/award attachment. The award measures 1 inch wide by 1 1/8 inches tall. It comes housed in the appropriate issue case and accompanying ribbon. The case is constructed out of a wood and pressed cardboard base that is covered in simulated grained black leatherette). The case measures approximately 4 1/4 inches long, 3 5/16 inches wide and deep and 1 inch thick. Also inside the case is the appropriate tri-color (schwarz-weiss-rot) ribbon. The 9 1/4 inch long ribbon is constructed out of a machine embroidered red, white and black rayon. A wonderful assembly and a great alternative for someone not wanting to spend mega bucks!
