A Municipal Short Police Bayonet with Frog by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen. The full length 200mm plated blade on this one looks great! It retains a nice and bright mirror like finish along with a perfect fit and sharp tip! There are some scratches on it you can see when you turn it in the sun. The stamped early double oval Eickhorn maker mark is beautifully executed! The blade rates a solid Exc++. The steel scabbard body has paint chips and some scratches. The steel based, nickel-silver plated scalloped scabbard fitting remains in excellent condition, matching the hilt in color and patina. The crossguard is unmarked as one would expect on a private purchase example. The scabbard snugly fits the hilt. The multi-toned stag grip plates are tightly secured with two aluminum rivets. The centrally placed burnished aluminum 1st pattern police eagle is properly pined and retains nice detail! Look at the clamshell! really a treat to find this. The faux release button is intact. Comes with a nice maker marked frog. An excellent and very rare police bayonet, see Wheeler's Bayonet Reference pg 152.
