2nd Class War Merit Cross with Swords
A Kriegs-verdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern. The 2nd Class War Merit Cross with Swords was awarded to soldiers for exceptional service in battle above and beyond the call of duty. It is constructed out of a die struck bronze base that has been bronze washed and lacquered. There is some powdering that maybe removed with a tooth brush if you wish. It depicts a pebbled Maltese style cross and a wreathed swastika / “1939” (reverse) to the center. To the top is an unmarked integral loop unmarked ring that holds approx. 4 inches of black, white and red rayon ribbon. The award measures 1 15/16 inches wide and tall.
