Here's a Model 1706 leopard-head Army sword by Eickhorn! The plated blade on this one looks good. It has a nice mirror like finish to it with a beautifully stamped "Original Eickhorn Solingen" maker mark. The blade rates NM. The buffer pad is lost to time. The steel based, black enamel repainted scabbard looks good. It shows age and wear while remaining dent-free. Both throat retaining screws remain intact! The uncleaned brass based hilt has lost mort of the gilt and has nicely patinaed with good detail throughout! The closed winged Heer eagle is a real beauty! The oak leaf and acorn motif to the ferrule, "P" guard and back strap looks excellent. The leopard head is wonderfully hand enhanced! It has two red glass eyes that give it a wonderful look! The wood based and black celluloid covered grip is in near perfect condition! No cracks or chips anywhere. The triple brass wire wrap remains fully intact and is nice and tight. This one is illustrated in Angolia reference pg 78.
