A beautiful SS (Schutzstaffel) EM/NCO Buckle by Overhoff & Cie., Lüdenscheid, that was introduced in 1927. The buckle is constructed out of a die struck steel base that has been silver washed, ( most of the silvering is worn off the obverse. The obverse depicts an SS eagle with its tongue sticking out and outstretched wings, clutching a centrally placed wreath static swastika in its talons. The eagle is above the SS motto: "Meine Ehre heißt Treue!" which is in front of a rough textured background that is surrounded by two twisted ropes in a circle. All of this lies on a smooth rectangular background. The reverse shows a soldered on steel catch and steel pin, post/sleeve and prongs assembly. It shows nice patina and great detail! It measures approximately 2 ½ inches wide by 1 7/8 inches tall. A nice example.
