Here we have a combat worn example of a M16 camo helmet. The shell is constructed out of a stamped piece of steel sheet metal that has been period green/yellow/black painted. The shell has a folded over edge, two separately applied air vents and three split rivets remain. The interior has a thick thick black band on which is 3 brown leather pads that are aged. The exterior continues to retain 50%+ of its original camo paint! The helmet is maker marked and sized "BF62",F.C. Bellinger, Fulda. Now I say 62 but it is not clearly stamped so it could be 64. The chinstrap is lost to time. Someone neatly painted "Germany 1918" to reverse skirt, likely returing Vet. A great piece!
