Nice war-time pith helmet correctly made from pressed felt and trimmed in green leather. There are two aluminum based painted shields intact and pinned to each side that show minor age. The inside liner is made of vented red felt. The sweatband is ink stamped underneath the size and year of manufacture "60r". There is a sticker on the red felt "55" The chin strap is intact. There is no visible indication at all that this was ever issued or worn. Just storage wear. This 2nd Pattern Heer Pith Helmet displays great and would likely be impossible to upgrade. Many remained unissued and sitting in storage depots till after the war. Post war, vendors looked to capitalize on the hunger for souvenirs and shipped hundreds of these to USA for sale. This example is one of those.
