A Kriegs-verdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern. The 2nd Class War Merit Cross with Swords was awarded to soldiers for exceptional service in battle above and beyond the call of duty. It is constructed out of a die struck zinc base that has been bronze washed and lacquered. It depicts a pebbled Maltese style cross and a wreathed swastika / “1939” (reverse) to the center. To the top is an integral loop and an unmarked ring that holds 11 inches of black, white and red rayon ribbon. Minor wear. It measures 1 15/16 inches wide and tall. Rare to fine a private purchase KVKII. A great piece for any collection!
