A Deutsches Kreta Ärmelstreifen - Type I. Introduced on October 16, 1942, the Kreta Cufftitle was a campaign award for the battle for the Island of Crete, which began on May 20, 1941. It is constructed out of a yellow machine embroidered rayon to a white cotton base. The obverse reads, in yellow; “KRETA” flanked by two “acanthus” designs one to either side and is bordered by two horizontal yellow lines and all lies on a white base. The reverse is stitched to size. The interior features the folded over top and bottom edges and is stamped “RBNr.0/0250/2340” to the inside. It shows soilage throughout. It measures 7 inches long by 1 5/16 inches tall. A great piece!
