Kaiserliche Marine S.M.S. Leipzig Mützenband. The SMS Leipzig (Bremen-class cruisers) was launched on March 21, 1905, and was sunk by at the battle of the Falkland Islands on December 8, 1914 It is constructed out of a black satin/rayon base with gold-colored machine stitched thread. The obverse reads, in gold: “S.M.S. Leipzig” on a black base. The top and bottom have chain-like re-enforce stitching. There are some holes. It measures 38 ½ inches long by 1 5/16 inches wide.
