Kriegsmarine Marine-Frontspange in Bronze. Introduced November 19, 1944, by Supreme Commander of the Navy Karl Dönitz, the Naval Front Clasp in Bronze was awarded to officers and men of the Kriegsmarine for general worthiness and five-times completion of the conditions of the U-Boat War Badge. As this badge was created so late in the war there was no official manufacturer contact, resulting in all known examples having been shipboard produced. There are known award documents and period photographs. A 1957 design was authorized and published in the Bundesanzeiger in February 1958 as a follow up to the 1957 Ordensgesetz. It is constructed out of a cast bronze based. The obverse features a fouled anchor and rope surrounded by a wreath and flanked by two eight-piece oak leaf clusters. The full back reverse features a soldered-on pin, hinge and catch assembly. The solder around the hinge has come loose. It measures 85.17mm wide by 23.61mm tall and weighs 16.11g. This piece comes with a COA from Neimann.
