British - The Italy Star w Packet & Clasp
British First Army, WWII – Unissued The Italy Star in Packet. Instituted May 1945, the Italy Star was awarded to those who served in the Italian Campaign from 1943 to 1945. It is constructed out of a die struck yellow copper zinc alloy base that has been bronze plated. The obverse features the Royal Cypher “GRI VI”, underneath a royal crown surrounded by “The Italy Star”, on a six-pointed star. The reverse is plain. The top has an integral eyelet and ring which holds 5 3/4 inches of red, white and green. The award measures 1 ½ inches wide by 1 ¾ inches tall. It comes with its original issue lacquered cellophane packet. It measures 2 inches wide by 3 1/2 inches tall. It also comes with a 1st Army Clasp.
