M36 Type I - Schutzstaffel Kettendolch für Offiziere mit Portepee. The blade on this one looks great. The acid etched “Meine Ehre heißt Treue” motto is nicely executed. There is no maker mark, which is exactly how they were issued from the factory. The tip comes to a perfect point and it continues to hold a nice and tight fit. The blade rates Exc+/Exc++. It has been cleaned likely in attempt to reduce the age grey which has left some scratching throughout. The steel based black anodized scabbard body on this one looks wonderful. It continues to remain completely dent free and holds traces of its original factory lacquer. The scalloped nickel-silver scabbard fittings and nickel-silver guards match in color and patina. The ball has some bruises yet holds a nice round shape. All six screws remain intact. The chain is the Type I variation that is iron based and nickel-silver plated. The chain links show wonderful detail to the skulls and SS runes. There is the correct “DRGM” mark to the center of the wotan’s knot. The correct first upper link reverse is clearly “SS” proof marked. The clip continues to work well. The scabbard to crossguard fit is perfect and closes with a snap. The black hardwood grip is in great condition. It has one hairline crack to the front, a flake and flake chip to the front-top and a flake chip to the reverse along with the typical pressure marks throughout. The grip to crossguard fits are perfect. The solid nickel-silver eagle is beautifully detailed and has a perfect fit. The SS roundel retains 99%+ of its enamel and also has a perfect fit. Nice...
