An Olympia-Erinnerungsmedaille 1936. Instituted July 31, 1936, the German Olympic Memorial Medal was awarded for services rendered to the 1936 Olympic Games. It is a constructed out of a die stamped nickel-silver based that has been silver washed. The round shaped obverse features a German national eagle (with outstretched wings clutching a wreathed swastika in its talons) in front of a pedestal that has the five Olympic rings to the top and at the bottom the eagle is flanked by “1936” (19 - left, 36 - right). The reverse depicts the script: “Für Verdienstvolle Mitarbeit Bei Den Olympischen Spielen 1936” (For Meritorious Collaboration at the Olympic Games 1936) above a four-piece oak leaf and acorn cluster. To the top is a soldered-on loop and ring which holds 4 1/4 inches of red, white and black, 1 1/16 inches wide rayon ribbon. It measures 1 7/16 inches in diameter.
