Stickpin - SA Sports Badge in Bronze

A SA-Sportnadel in Bronze by 6 - Karl Hensler of Pforzheim. Introduced November 28, 1933, the SA Sports Badge in Bronze was award to military and paramilitary personnel who passed the required criteria in physical fitness, military defense and field exercises. The stickpin variation would have been worn by the recipient while in civilian clothing. It is constructed out of a die stamped bronze base that has been bronze washed. The obverse depicts an upright vertical broad sword, in front of a mobile swastika, which is surrounded by an eight-piece laurel leaf wreath that is tied together at both sides. The full back reverse is maker marked “6” and has a soldered on and knurled stickpin. The face measures ½ of an inch wide by 3/5 of an inch tall.
