A Wehrmacht Bajonett für K98 by Paul Weyersberg of Solingen 1940. The K98 Bayonet was designed for the German Wehrmacht standard service Karabiner 98 kurz (7.92x57mm Mauser cartridge) bolt-action rifle - 1935. The single edged, single fullered, blued blade on this one look great. The blued panels continue to have a nice and dark finish. The fit is perfect. It is maker marked, to the reverse “P. Weyersberg”, dated, to the spine “40” and serial/distribution number to the obverse “6304 d”. The blade rates a solid Exc++. It shows some blue loss towards the tip and high points. The steel based, black anodized scabbard has finish loss. It is marked and serialized matching the blade perfectly. It looks like a weak mark from the photo but I assure you it’s not. I didn’t want to remove the oil/dust. The single side screw remains intact. It has a dent to the lower third of the obverse. The scabbard sits securely up against the hilt. The hilt looks great. The black bakelite grip plates are in great condition. They show the common wear marks but no chips, cracks or splits. The push button continues to work well. A few bumps to the spine plate. This piece is profusely inspection stamped as one would expect. This one comes with a nice frog. A solid example.
